March 9th 2022 is the 106th anniversary of the death of Rev. Arnold Spencer-Smith, Antarctic explorer, photographer and padre to the Ross Sea Party of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. On March 9th at All Saints there will be a Mass at 5.30pm using Spencer-Smith’s chalice and paten. At 6.30pm in All Saints’ Hall there will be a Reception followed at 7pm by the Fourth Annual Spencer-Smith Lecture: Transforming our thinking about Antarctica: whakairo as research, presented by Assoc. Prof. Prisiclla Wehi, ethnobiologist and conservation bioilogist, OU Centre for Sustainability.
